CODEXIS AI Agent basics
An overview of Chat and Agent modes, how the platform works and its available features.
CODEXIS AI Agent brings together CODEXIS legal sources, your documents and business systems in one workspace. This page explains how Chat and Agent modes differ, how the agent works and which parts of the platform you can use for your work.
One environment, two modes
CODEXIS AI Agent provides two interfaces that you can switch between according to the task:
- Chat is for legal questions, research and working with a document uploaded to a conversation. It builds on the existing CODEXIS AI, uses verified legal sources and includes links to the source materials in its answers.
- Agent also connects to storage and business systems. It provides an API, email integration and automations.
A secure, isolated environment
Each user works in their own isolated virtual computer, hosted securely in a private cloud in the Czech Republic. Network and business data access can be managed according to the organisation's requirements. Connected folders appear as ordinary directories where the agent can read, edit and create files.
Projects
A project brings together work on one matter, such as a client, a contract or a dispute. You upload files, connect the shared folders you need and set instructions for conversations within the project. You can assign automations to the project and use add-ons while working. Each project has its own source materials; see Projects for details on organising and separating them.

Licence
If you use the existing CODEXIS AI, you automatically get access to the new CODEXIS AI Chat. CODEXIS AI Agent requires a separate licence.
