Projects
A workspace for a matter, its files, conversations, connected folders and automations.
A project is a unit of work in CODEXIS AI Agent. It brings together the materials and conversations for a particular matter, such as a client, a dispute or a contract. This page explains how to organise work in a project and choose the data the agent works with.
Conversations and instructions
Give your project a name and optionally add a description and instructions. Instructions can specify the format of deliverables or rules for working on the matter. The agent receives them as part of the context in project conversations.
You can have several conversations in one project. For a contract, you can discuss the source materials, draft wording and the other party's comments separately while using the same project files.

Working with files
Upload the documents you need for the work to the project. Each project has its own storage, and its files are available as source materials to its conversations. The agent can also read files from other conversations in the same project.
You can find uploaded materials on the Files tab.

Connecting folders
Connect the shared folders and cloud storage you need for the matter. In the desktop app, you can also add folders from your computer. You choose which additional materials to make available to the project.
For example, upload a brief to a client's project and connect the folder containing their contracts. Further conversations in the project can then use the same source materials.
On the Connections tab, select Add next to the folder you want. A connected folder has a Remove button.

Automations and add-ons
You can assign an automation to a project. Each run creates a conversation in that project, so the agent works with its instructions and source materials. For example, you can ask it to prepare a regular report on the matter.
Project conversations can use installed add-ons and their skills. These extend the agent's capabilities, for example with registry searches or document processing.
Separation between projects
Each project has its own file storage and instructions. A conversation receives access to its project's source materials and files from other conversations in that project. This separation protects the working data of individual matters and helps keep each client's materials in the appropriate project.
Connected folders determine which data is shared. If you connect the same shared folder to several projects, they use the same files. Changes to a file are visible wherever that folder is connected.
Next steps
The next chapter, Conversation, explains how to submit a task and work with the agent’s response.
