Credit system

In the CODEXIS system, the use of artificial intelligence is based on a credit system. Every AI query or operation that requires computationally intensive processing (e.g. case-law research, text generation, template editing or the work of your own AI assistant) is assigned a specific number of credits.

Basic operating principles

1. Shared credit pool Credits are shared across all add-ons and monitors (e.g. AI Case Law CZ, EU, Education, HR, etc.). There is therefore no separate limit for a specific module – you can draw on credits wherever they are currently needed. A single credit package is available to all users within one organization or license. The system thus supports teamwork as well as flexible use according to the needs of individual team members.

As of 5 March 2026, the way credit packages are loaded has changed as follows:

For example, a package of 5,000,000 credits per year under a three-year contract works as follows:

• 5,000,000 credits – valid from 1 January 2026 to 31 December 2026 (valid for 12 months)
• 5,000,000 credits – valid from 1 January 2026 to 31 December 2027 (valid for 24 months)
• 5,000,000 credits – valid from 1 January 2026 to 31 December 2028 (valid for 36 months)

3. Administrator oversight The license administrator has full control over credit usage, including an overview of who consumed how many credits and when. The administrator can also top up credits directly in the CODEXIS application. This enables efficient management as well as the setting of internal rules for using AI, if needed.

4. The Credit management application

The administrator can adjust users' weekly credit usage limits or disable usage altogether, i.e. prevent certain users from using CODEXIS AI.

5. Transparency The number of credits charged is always shown next to each answer, so the user knows exactly how much their query cost. Credits are used only when actively working with the AI. Simply browsing conversations or history does not consume any additional credits.

How much do queries cost?

1. It is not possible to say in advance how many credits a query will cost.
2. As a general rule, queries over a specific document, where there is no need to search additional CODEXIS content, consume fewer credits.
3. By specifying your query correctly the first time, you save credits.
4. A poorly specified query, or a complex query that requires reading through many documents in CODEXIS, results in a larger consumption of credits.

This model brings maximum transparency, enables efficient planning of usage and at the same time maintains flexibility across different agendas and users. Combined with central access management, the credit system is a clear and fair tool for working with AI in CODEXIS.
